Budget Friendly Steak Casserole
If you enjoy a tender, melt in your mouth steak, but you’re on a budget this is the recipe for you!
Preparation time: 15 minutes
Bake time: 3 hours @ 300
1 Round Steak or Chuck Steak 1 pkg Lipton Onion Soup 1 can cream of mushroom soup
½ cup wine or water
Round and Chuck Steaks are the cheaper cut of meat which means it is tougher than other cuts. The trick to make these cuts tender is a slow bake.
Cut the steak into 1” squares (large bite size).
Put the dry Lipton Onion Soup and the cream of mushroom soup into a casserole dish. Add the wine, or water. Stir until blended.
Add the meat chunks. Mix the meat chunks around until each piece has been covered with the soups mixture. The meat chunks won’t be totally submerged in the soups, mostly submerged but not totally.
Cover the casserole dish with foil.
Bake in 300° oven for 3 hours stirring after each half hour.
Serve over rice, mashed potatoes or toast.
