Cinnamon Bread

Cinnamon Bread

Preparation time: 30 minutes

Bake time: 40 minutes


3 Tbls brown sugar                  1 Tbls Cinnamon                            ¼ cup shortening

1 cup sugar                              2 eggs                                             1 cup milk soured (with 2 tsp vinegar)

½ tsp. Baking soda                 ½ tsp salt                                         1 tsp. Baking powder

2 tsp. Vanilla extract               2 cups flour


Preheat oven to 3500 .

In a small bowl mix the brown sugar and cinnamon, set aside.

Cream shortening and sugar together. Add eggs, sour milk and vanilla to make batter.

Combine flour, baking powder, salt and baking soda. Add the brown sugar and cinnamon. Blend well.

Pour half of the batter into a 9 x 5 x 3” loaf pan.

Sprinkle half of the cinnamon mixture over batter.

Pour remaining batter into pan and top with the rest of the cinnamon mixture.

Bake for 40 minutes.
