Homemade Lasagna

This lasagna takes a little bit more effort than the other lasagna’s we have posted, but it is well worth it!  This is a true down-home recipe for lasagna.

 

Preparation time:  40 minutes

Bake time:  30 – 35 minutes

Ingredients:

(1st section ingredients)  1 lb. hamburger, browned & drained          1/2 lb. Italian sausage, browned & cut-up         1 Tbs cloves garlic, minced          2 Tbs sugar           2 Tbs Worcestershire Sauce          1 1/2 tsp salt           1 Tbs Italian seasoning          2 – 1 oz cans cut up tomatoes          2 – 6 oz cans tomato paste          1 – 6 oz. can tomato sauce          1 can black olives, sliced         1 can sliced mushrooms  (end)

1 box lasagna noodles

(2nd section ingredients)  3 cups Ricotta cheese          1/2 cup Parmesan cheese          1 tsp. salt          1 Tbs parsley           1/2 tsp pepper         2 eggs, beaten  (end)

1 lb. mozzarella cheese, sliced

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

In a large skillet combine all ingredients in the first section.  Simmer gently.  While that is simmering, cook lasagna according to package directions (boil in a pot for about 10 – 12 minutes).

In a bowl combine the 2nd section of ingredients.  Mix well.

In a large casserole dish place a layer of noodles on bottom.  Then place a layer of meat sauce, spoon on the egg and cheese mixture and top with slices of mozzarella.  Repeat layers until all ingredients have been used.

Bake for approximately 30 – 35 minutes.

Serve with french bread or garlic bread and a fresh salad.
