How To Cook Prime Rib
Do you wish that you could create a prime rib dinner like a restaurant? Then this is the recipe for you!
1 Prime rib roast salt fresh cracked pepper
You can ask your butcher to separate and tie the ribs from the meat. Or leave them attached. It’s personal preference.
Two hours prior to baking pull the roast from the refrigerator and let it stand at room temperature.
Preheat your oven to 550 degrees.
Sprinkle the roast with salt and fresh pepper. Place a meat thermometer into the thickest part of the roast without touching the bone.
In a shallow roasting pan place the roast on a rack inside the pan.
Bake at 550 degrees for 10 minutes. Reduce the temperature to 325 degrees and continue cooking roast until 5 degrees short of being done. 22 minutes per pound.
Rare = 140 degrees (pull the at 135 degrees)
Well done = 170 degrees (pull at 165 degrees)
The roast will continue to heat inside another 5 degrees when it is removed from the oven. Allow the roast to sit 15 minutes before carving.
Serve with horse radish sauce!
