Pecan Pie or Walnut Pie
This recipe is super easy to make a creamy, crunchy, pie! Traditionally pecans are used in this recipe, but experimenting in my own kitchen has proven that walnuts work just as well!
Preparation time: 20 minutes
Bake time: 40 – 45 minutes
1 cup pecan halves (For walnut pie use 1 cup of walnut halves.) 3 eggs lightly beaten 3/4 cup corn syrup
3/4 cup sugar 1/4 tsp. salt 2 1/2 tsp vanilla 3 Tbsp. melted butter
1 unbaked pie shell
Combine eggs and corn syrup in a bowl. Mix well.
Add sugar and allow to stand until the sugar blends into the eggs and corn syrup.
Stir in the salt and the vanilla. Let stand for 5 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
In the pie shell spread the pecans, or walnuts, on the bottom making sure the top half of each nut is facing up.
Stir melted butter into syrup mixture and pour over the nuts in the pie shell. Make sure the nuts all rise to the top.
Bake in preheated oven for 40 – 45 minutes. Center will be firm when done.
